This wasn't technically a ten minute card. It took a bit longer, mainly because I had to locate the leaf die. It's so small and easy to misplace. I found that, but then I had to decide on what type of paper to use with it. I cut out patterned paper, but it just didn't look right, so I decided to go with a solid cardstock. I had been having issues getting this die to cut, but I changed the sandwich and all is good with the world again! I know if I recreated the card it would take about 5 minutes tops. I used easy proportions- keeping the main image panel at 3.25x4.5.
On a side note, does it bother anyone else that Baja Breeze and Soft Sky were clearly designed in the same hue family, yet weren't available at the same time??
Supplies:
Stamps: Birthday Basics
Ink: Not Quite Navy
Paper: Textured Basic Grey, White, Urban Garden, Baja Breeze, Soft Sky
Accessories, etc.: Leaf Die, White Grosgrain, Pop Dots
I love this card. It takes me hours to decide on what paper to use. I have the same die and use a Cuttlebug but I can't get it to work. How did you put your sandwich together to get it to work?
ReplyDeleteGreat card!
Thanks,
Linda
This is lovely! Wonderful design. Yes! I use the soft sky/baja breeze combination all the time. Fortunately, I stocked up on soft sky before it was discontinued.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's weird that these two beautiful colours weren't available in the same years. I also noticed that next year's Soft Suede reminded me of River Rock and they are also from the same colour family. I can't wait to put them together. Luckily I have a stash of River Rock.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card! I think that's just the way the color trends fall...like I was at a scrapbook store this weekend and all of a sudden I'm seeing that color Bermuda Bay everywhere! They really are good at following the "In Colors", get it?! hee! hee! But, I'm hoping from that SU announcement that maybe the old colors will be available again!
ReplyDeleteLOL, I know what you mean! It's totally aggravating! :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE your card, it's *gorgeous*!!
great card!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog due to Jennifer McGuire Tweeting about it! I love your blog & your style!
ReplyDeleteYes and you could probably throw Buckaroo Blue in there too! I like this year's In Colors, but I am suffering from blue withdrawal!
ReplyDeleteThis card is super cute, BTW!
I know what you mean about a 10 minute card taking an hour. That happened to me just the other day when doing one of your other challenges on this blog. But once I find all my supplies and figure out the color and paper choices, then it goes fast.
ReplyDeleteI just got samples of this year's in colors and I think they are very similar to the current colors or prior year's in colors. I think they must use the same dye bath and just add more "something" to it to make it seem like it's a new color. But at least, if you have them all, you can cooridinate them. I do think soft sky and baja breeze go very well together.
Your card is very calming with your color scheme. And I like the leaf. It was worth the search to find it.
Off to give this a try.
love it! simple, clean and MASCULINE! (without having sports or a vehicle on it!) ;)

ReplyDeletelovely....clean and simple...such great work you do...
ReplyDeleteYes. I agree 100% with your comment about Soft Sky and Baja Breeze. Both are better colors than any blue in the current 48 colors.
ReplyDeleteLove your card!
ReplyDeleteHere is my card using this sketch.
ReplyDeleteYour card is beautiful! So elegant!
ReplyDeleteLovely card! You know, I just noticed that last Saturday! It's nuts isn't it?
