FTL 2- Take Two

Hello,

I hope you're ready for our second take of sketch #2! This one is extremely simple and is great when you want use a larger sentiment

I thought a baby card would be a good idea for this layout. It ended up being a bit layered, but I still really like the overall effect. I started my stamping one of the Petal Power background prints in Sweet Blush. It ended up being too bright, so I softened it up with a layer of vellum. I added my sentiment to that layer and then finished off the card with a brown scalloped edge and some ribbon.

I hope you play along! If you do, please leave a link in the comments!

FTL1 - Take Two!

I think this is a fun idea... revisiting the sketches we've done before!  I think I did this sketch before.... wonder if I could find the photo of the card.

Anyway... it's been FOREVER since I've stamped and even longer since I played along with the sketches.  I was introduced to the Bokeh technique a few weeks ago and I love it... it's a water colour technique.  Google it, it's fun!  I used it for the squares on this card.

FTL1- Take Two!

Hello all!

After a bit of an unplanned hiatus, we are back!

Just a bit of background information before we get on to the sketch- I started the blog back in May 2008. I had quite a different vision for it, I was hoping to cycle between clean and simple sketches, techniques, tips, and products. However, the blog quickly turned into a sketch blog. We've completed over 300 sketches over 7 years! Since the blog started, we as stampers have evolved and so has this industry. So with that in mind, we are going to start back at the beginning!

Here is the very first sketch! Fall-to Layout #1, the one that started it all!

Here's my card! I decided to use a fun summery colour combination. I always find myself drifting towards these types of colour combinations at this point in winter!

Supplies:
Stamps: Beautiful Blooms II, Up Up & Away
Ink: Hawaiian Shores, Limeade Ice, Harvest Gold, Berry Sorbet, Fresh Snow
Paper: White, Smokey Shadow
Accessories, etc.: Swiss Dot Black Organdy Ribbon

If you play along, please leave a link in a comment!

Get Inspired

Good morning!

I don't have a sketch this week. It's getting to be that time of the year where there are barely any spare moments. However, I saw this amazing card by Laura Bassen, and I was inspired!

I wanted to see what I could do using a few dies and punches. I created my main panel by running white card stock through with a star die. I did this 5 times, moving the die to achieve the desired placement. I wanted a few more stars, so I used a star punch.

I wanted a colourful background to show behind the stars. I blended Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Ripe Persimmon, Barn Door, and Fired Brick. I stamped a combination greeting using the hello Wplus9 and the superstar from a Verve. I popped up the starry panel using thick foam tape and then placed that on a black card base. I was totally thrilled with how it turned out.

Supplies:
Stamps: Hand Lettered Hello (Wplus9), Great Expectations (Verve)
Ink: Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Ripe Persimmon, Barn Door, and Fired Brick (Ranger Distress), Black Onyx (Versafine)
Paper: White, Black
Accessories, etc.: Star die (PTI), Star Punch (Stampin' Up!), Blending Tool (Ranger)

If anyone is interested in seeing a video of any of my cards or creative process, please let me know!
