Fall to Layout #69 Take Two

Happy Sunday!

This week's sketch is one of the cleanest and simplest of all my sketches. It can be a one layer (or mostly one layer). It's all about the stamping and the sentiment!

I decided to bring out some WPlus9. I started with the set Fresh Baked. I chose my colour palette (Classic Kraft, Aqua Mist, Melon Berry, Harvest Gold, Soft Slate) and then assigned one of the cooking utensils to each colour.

Next, I stamped my greeting from Smokey Shadow and then die cut a few layers of the word "happy" (from the WP9 Happy Trios die set) from Terracotta Tile cardstock.

I decided against a one layer card and adhered the stamped layer to a Soft Slate layer. The final step was to add a few jewels in similar colours throughout the stamping. Simple, fun and perfect for a friend or family member that loves baking!

Supplies:
Stamps: Fresh Baked
Paper: Stamper's Select, Terracotta Tile, Soft Slate
Accessories, etc.: Jewels, Happy trio dies

Fall to Layout #68- Take Two

Happy Sunday!

Here is this week's sketch.

I don't have a card ready to share yet this week.I'm at a crafty weekend retreat, so I had packed up most of my supplies by Wednesday night. Don't worry, there will be plenty of card making there, and I hope to have a card ready to share later today or tomorrow.

Update:

I finally have a card to share.

How cute are these aliens from the Lawn Fawn Beam Me Up set?

I coloured them with Copics and cut them out. I also added a few stars from the Upon a Star set to jazz up the background. The greeting is from Tiny Treats: Birthday.  For the little "tab" element, I coloured and cut out one of the stars from the Upon a Star set.

I made this as a 4-Bar size (3-1/2 x 4-7/8). Since I used the smaller aliens, I thought the smaller card size would be more ideal.

Fall to Layout #67- Take Two

Happy Sunday!

Here's the sketch:

Measurements:
  • Card Base: 4-1/4 x 5-1/2
  • Patterned Paper: 4-1/4 x 3-3
  • Circle with Frame: Approximately 2-1/2 diameter

I decided to use a bit of Stampin' Up today. Even though I'm not a demo and haven't been for years, I'm a little bummed that these two sets are retiring. I really enjoy seeing current projects with them. I know I can still use them for years to come, but it's nice to go on Pinterest or Instagram and see people still sharing projects with these products, which just won't happen as much once they are retired.

Anyway, enough sad talk! The project was fun to make! I pulled out the coordinating paper to the Cool Treats and found one of the more neutral patterns that I could stamp a greeting from Fruit Basket on.

Next, I die cut the ice cream components- the cone from Kraft, the ice cream from White and the chocolate drizzle from Chocolate Chip. I went into my ribbon stash and found this older Bermuda Bay Swiss dot grosgrain (back when Bermuda Bay was an In Color!) Once it was all together, I added glossy accents to the chocolate.

Supplies:
Stamps: Cool Treats, Fruit Basket
Ink: Dark Chocolate
Paper: Cool Treats (sorry I don't have the correct name available), Kraft,White, Chocolate Chip, Aqua Mist
Accessories, etc.: Bermuda Bay ribbon, circle dies, Frozen Treats dies, glossy accents

Fall to Layout #66 Take Two

Happy Sunday! I hope everyone's having a good April so far. Our spring here has been on the slower, chillier side, so I decided to visit the tropics via card-making supplies!

Here's the sketch:

Measurements I used:
  • Card Base: 5-1/2 x 5-1/2
  • Square Layer: 4-3/4 x 4-3/4
  • Main Image Layer: 4-1/4 x 2-3/4
  • Main Image Mat Layer: 4-3/8 x 2-7/8
  • Darker Horizontal Strip: 4-3/4 x 1-3/4

 Here's my card!

I started with the flamingo image from the Hero Arts Color Layering Flamingo. I pulled out three pink inks from my stash- Lovely Lady, Hibiscus Burst and Raspberry Fizz. I die-cut the image first and then used the mini Misti to align all the layers.

The rest of the card is pretty basic, it was just a matter of determining the layers. I added a bit of baker's twine and sequins to match the "fabulousness" of the greeting.

Supplies:
Stamps: Hero Arts Color Layering Flamingo
Ink: Lovely Lady, Hibiscus Burst, Raspberry Fizz, Black
Paper: Smokey Shadow, Lovely Lady, Raspberry Fizz, Stamper's Select
Accessories, etc.: Flamingo die, sequins, baker's twine

Fall to Layout #65 Take Two

Happy Sunday!

Here's this week's sketch:

Measurements I used:
Basic Card Front: 4-1/4 x 5-1/2
Panel: 4-1/4 x 1-3/4

I've got a cheerful birthday card for the sketch this week. I decided to pull out PTI's birthday balloon die. I made my own stencil and used that to make my background. I used Distress Oxide inks- Peacock Feathers, Twisted Citron, and Squeezed Lemonade. I had several plain white balloon cut outs from making the stencil, so I decided to ink-blend a few of those to add to the card for extra interest.

Next, I inked up some plain cardstock using the same distress inks, as well as Salty Ocean. I die cut this fun scripty hooray word by MFT. To add some extra strength and shine, I embossed it with clear embossing powder. I decided to use a small piece of vellum as the panel element since I didn't want to cover the background too much. I also added a sentiment from Sentiment Staples: Birthday to complete the greeting.

Supplies:
Stamps: Sentiment Staples: Birthday
Ink: Ranger Archival Black, Distress Oxides: Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers, Twisted Citron, and Squeezed Lemonade
Paper: Stamper's Select, Vellum
Dies: Birthday Balloon, Hooray
