Fall to Layout #72- Take Two

Happy Sunday!

Time for another sketch.

This one is great for using scraps of paper. I decided to make my own stamped patterned paper using Altenew's Coffee Love and Coffee Talk. Apparently I was in the mood for another coffee themed card!

Here's the sketch:

Some handy measurements:
Card Base: 4.25 x 5.5
Total size of patterned paper layer: 3.5 x 4.75
Each layer strip from the top down:
  • 3.5 x 1.5
  • 3.5 x .75
  • 3.5 x .5
  • 3.5 x 2

To make the card, I started with a white piece of cardstock 3.5 x 4.75. Next, I gathered various brown cardstocks to see which ones looked best together. I decided on Chocolate Chip, Creamy Caramel, and Close to Cocoa (all retired or retiring Stampin' Up colours) and some Kraft. I chose different image stamps from the Coffee Love and stamped a different item on each strip. The sentiment is from Coffee Talk. Once all the strips were stamped, I adhered them to the white piece of cardstock I had cut out previously. The final step was adhering that to the card base using foam tape.

Fall to Layout #71- Take Two

Happy Sunday! And happy long weekend if you're in Canada. It's warming up here, so I thought a card featuring an iced coffee could be fun!

Some measurements:
Card Base: 4-1/4 x 5-1/2
Sentiment Layer: 3-1/4 x 4-1/2
Sentiment Layer Mat: 3-3/8 x 4-5/8
Top strip: 1 x 4-1/4

I found this sketch a bit of a challenge this week. I originally designed it around Christmas time, and I had a really hard time figuring out what to use in place of the ornament.

I started by stamping a few images from the Stampin' Up! set Coffee Cafe. I've had this one for a bit and had yet to put ink to it. I stamped the images in Memento ink and then die cut the 3 components. Next I lined up the cup and lid and stamped the straw. Next I coloured the coffee with a blend of 3 Copic markers. To make the ice more "icy" I used a blender marker to remove some of the colour.

The sentiment is from Summer Sweetness by Papertrey Ink. For the top sentiment strip I pulled out an oldie colour (Creamy Caramel)and die cut it with the straight border die from MFT's Stitched Scallop Basic Edges.

I ended up omitting the ribbon element since it interfered with the cup.

Supplies (affiliate links used at no cost to you):
Stamps: Coffee Cafe, Summer Sweetness
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: White,  Kraft, Real Red, Dark Chocolate, Creamy Caramel

Fall to Layout #70- Take Two

Happy Sunday! And a Happy Mother's Day to all mothers, grandmothers, pet mamas and any other mom figures :)

Here's this week's sketch. I know the sketch itself uses birthday images, but I still needed to make one last Mother's Day card, so I decided to make it work!

  • Card Base: 4-1/4 x 5-1/2
  • Frame: 3-1/4 x 4-1/2
  • Focal Layer portion: 3-1/8 x 2-5/8
  • Plain Layer portion: 3-1/8 x 1-3/4

I used the Simple Sunflowers mini set earlier in the week, and decided I just wasn't quite done with it yet! I stamped the center first using Dark Chocolate. Next I inked up the sunflower image using Bright Buttercup. I added a touch of depth by inking the edges with Summer Sunrise.

For the leaves I used New Leaf. I fussy cut out the flower and leaves. I wanted to add some sort of pattern or texture to the background, so I used an old Swiss Dots embossing folder on some Green Parakeet. The sentiment is from Women of Life (a now retired PTI set)

Stamps: Simple Sunflower, Women of Life
Accessories, etc.: Brown Grosgrain Ribbon, Swiss Dot embossing folder

Fall to Layout #69 Take Two

Happy Sunday!

This week's sketch is one of the cleanest and simplest of all my sketches. It can be a one layer (or mostly one layer). It's all about the stamping and the sentiment!

I decided to bring out some WPlus9. I started with the set Fresh Baked. I chose my colour palette (Classic Kraft, Aqua Mist, Melon Berry, Harvest Gold, Soft Slate) and then assigned one of the cooking utensils to each colour.

Next, I stamped my greeting from Smokey Shadow and then die cut a few layers of the word "happy" (from the WP9 Happy Trios die set) from Terracotta Tile cardstock.

I decided against a one layer card and adhered the stamped layer to a Soft Slate layer. The final step was to add a few jewels in similar colours throughout the stamping. Simple, fun and perfect for a friend or family member that loves baking!

Stamps: Fresh Baked
Paper: Stamper's Select, Terracotta Tile, Soft Slate
Accessories, etc.: Jewels, Happy trio dies
