It's time for another sketch! I felt like using some buttons, so I figured I'd design a sketch that worked with that idea.
Here's the sketch:
Here's my card. I made my main panel 3.5x5. The rest is pretty self explanatory.
  • Stamps: Birthday Basics
  • Paper: Dark Chocolate, Melon Berry, Aqua Mist, Lemon Tart, Spring Moss, Sweet Blush, Lavender Moon, White
  • Ink: Dark Chocolate
  • Accessories, etc: Beautiful Blooms #1 die, buttons

FTL133 Shabby Chic Flowers

When Natasha first sent us this sketch and her idea behind it, I panicked just a little bit.  You see, Natasha had the idea in her head that the strip on the card would be perfect for those big bulky embellishments that are available (beautiful ribbons, dimensional flowers) but that are difficult to use on cards since they'll get damaged in the mail (if you can get them in the envelope in the first place!).

Well, I'm not drawn to such bulky embellishments for the most part.  And I couldn't think of anything I had in my stash to use.

I thought about a great Sizzix die that two of my friends own where it makes a flower that you roll up to make a dimensional flower, but one friend is out of town and the other was busy all day today... and today was the day I had some time to create.

But then I thought about a card I made last fall using the Blossom die from Spellbinders....  so I cut 15 flowers out of patterned paper and spritzed them well with water.  I then scrunched them up and let them dry.  In fact, I went out for a few hours.  When I came home I smoothed them out somewhat and ran an ink pad over them to help create more dimension.

And this is what I came up with....
Items Used:
*Cardstock:  PTI White; Stampin' Up! Marina Mist
*Pattern Paper:  Basic Grey
*Images:  Stampin' Up! All Year Cheer I
*Ink:  Rich Cocoa Memento
*Tools:  Big Shot; Spellbinders Nestabilities Blossoms die
*Embellishments:  Doodlebug Sugared brads (coloured with a Copic marker)

As always, I am looking forward to seeing what each of you come up with!!!

FTL133 Hope Your Day Is Fabulous

Fun sketch with endless possibilities.  Using these 3D stickers made this a 5 minute card!!
Supplies: Stamps - PaperTrey; Paper - PaperTrey; Ink - Versafine Onyx Black; Misc - Jenny Bowlin Stickers, Foam Squares

FTL 133

I must have been on the same wavelength as Natasha, as I made a wedding card too!
I went with a big bow for my 3-D embellishment.

Thanks for stopping by!

stamps - Simple Sentiments, Enjoy the Ride (both PTI)
paper - black, white, cherry cobbler
ink - black
acc - burgundy silk ribbon (May Arts), rhinestones, photo corner punch

Good morning everyone! I have another sketch prepared. The idea here is to use a 3-d element where the flowers are shown on the sketch. As I described it to my team, use something that wouldn't typically fit in the mail. At first thought, you may think that 3-d embellishments aren't conducive to the clean and simple style. I think you'll manage just fine though. If you're anything like me, you may have picked up the occasional 3-d embellishment (like some ribbon flowers or resin flowers). This sketch makes those items the focus. Add in a sentiment and you're set!
So here's the sketch.
And here's my take on it. I just picked up these resin flowers and lace from Stampin' Up! and I was itching to use them. I thought they were well suited to a simple and elegant wedding themed card.
  • Stamps: Greeting from retired Stampin' Up! set (sorry, can't remember which one)
  • Paper: Spring Moss, Vintage Cream, Enchante DSP
  • Accessories, etc: Lace, Resin Flower
  • Ink: Dark Chocolate

An Early 132!

Well, I was going to wait until Friday to post this, but I just finished my card and I wanted to share it right away. You know that mentality, right?
Here's the sketch.
You may recognize it if you have similar inspiration files to me-I really love this card by Maile Belles and I also can't wait to get my hands on her new stamp set, Modern Basics. In the mean time, I figured I'd use one of my modern style favorites, Dot Spot, to make a similar look. I also am posting early so I can enter my card into Heather's Totally Hues Challenge #3 before the deadline! The colours to use are Hawaiian Shores, Aqua Mist, Orange Zest, and Summer Sunrise. I found them just perfect for this blustery, snowy day!
Onto the card!
Supplies (all supplies by Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted):
  • Stamps: Dot Spot, Inside and Out: Birthday, Green Thumb
  • Ink: Summer Sunrise, Orange Zest, Hawaiian Shores, Aqua Mist
  • Paper: Hawaiian Shores, Aqua Mist, White
  • Accessories, etc,: Clear Embossing Powder (gel-a-tins), Orange Ribbon (Dunwoody Booth), Rhinestones (Dollarama)
As always, if you play along, feel free to leave a link to your post!

FTL131 Hello

This is the first time I've made a dimensional tag - I don't know what I was waiting for - it is so much fun to embellish it!  I used Heather's colors from her Totally Hues Challenge#3
Supplies: Stamps - Mark's Finest Papers (sentiment from Just Dandy); Paper - PaperTrey; Ink - Versafine Onyx Black; Misc - PTI Tag die, Crop-a-dile, Felt, Buttons, Ribbon

FTL131 Spring Flowers

I had a tough time with the sketch for this week.  I love the sketch but all of the ideas I had in my head didn't seem to work.  I don't have a lot of things that I could use that are three different sizes that were the right dimensions.  So I ended up with my original idea, but using two smaller sized items instead of three different sizes.  I think it turned out OK.

And the card just screams spring to me!
Items Used:
*Cardstock:  PTI White; Stampin' Up! Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso
*Images:  unknown sentiment
*Ink:  Stampin' Up! Early Espresso
*Tools:  Big Shot; Sizzix Daisies #2

I can't wait to see what YOU come up with!

acc - blooms dies, circle punches, coaster, corner rounder

Ready for another sketch! Today's sketch is meant to have you reaching for more of those label dies or punches!

  • Ink: Cool Caribbean, Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, Dark Chocolate
  • Paper: White, Cool Caribbean
  • Accessories, etc.: 5/8'' grosgrain, baker's twine, button, fillable frames #4 die
